NATO leaders are meeting in Brussels on Tuesday to discuss providing more military aid to Ukraine, including an opportunity to heed President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's call for warplanes.

Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said before the meeting that coalition forces are planning to increase their stockpile of weapons as Kyiv comes under increasing fire. Stoltenberg also said that it is necessary to implement the NATO membership of Finland and Sweden as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, NATO member Norway has agreed to send German-made Leopard 2 battle tanks and other equipment to Ukraine to help in the war with Russia. The Kremlin criticized NATO's continued involvement in the conflict on Tuesday, saying it shows "hostility" against Moscow every day.

It comes as key parts of Ukraine experience fresh attacks, with the eastern city of Bakhmut facing heavy fire. The British Ministry of Defense said on Tuesday that the forces of the Russian mercenary group Wagner have almost made small gains in the northern part of the country, including in the village of Krasna Hora.
